PERFECT MORNING COFFEE

PERFECT MORNING COFFEE

In this blog, we’ll take you through step by step on how to get the most out of your Barisieur truly taking your morning ritual to the next level.

What makes a cup of coffee perfect?

It's really the moment that counts. We all have at least one memory where coffee put us in a good mood. Be it shared with friends, sipping on an espresso at the speciality cafe or having a moment to yourself in the morning with your newspaper and your favourite coffee mug. We'll do our best to set a good base with our coffee recipe and let you be the creator of the rest of the story. Wake up, take a coffee, and say cheers to life.

INGREDIENTS MATTER:

Coffee:

Firstly to get the most out of your coffee, we suggest getting your hands on some freshly roasted coffee beans. What coffee origin or roast level you purchase will determine the taste and we suggest exploring different types to truly find the flavour that suits you best. When grinding your coffee we suggest a fine grind or as you would for filter coffee and lightly tap it down with the spoon provided. Grinding your coffee will ensure your coffee tastes fresh and you get the most flavour out of the bean.

Ratio:

We suggest using a 1:15 ratio. This will produce roughly 172ml of flavour packed coffee.

- 13g of coffee

- 200ml of water

- ratio 1:15

Water:

Coffee is roughly 98% water, so your coffee’s taste will highly depend on water quality. Tap water has a lot of minerals that can limit or even ruin the quality of your cup. We suggest using filtered, distilled or mineral water.

With that said, the SCAA standards state that for a superior quality coffee extraction, your water should be clean, fresh, odour-free, clear in colour, and should have a mineral content of around 150 parts per million (ppm), while the best water pH for coffee is 7.0 (neutral).

Temperature:

The Barisieur brews coffee at the optimum temperature of 94C. Water temperature is essential in this process, because if your water is too hot, you risk an over extraction, leaving the coffee tasting bitter, and if your water is too cold, you can risk an under-extraction, where the coffee is weak, and maybe even tastes sour.

Filter ( metal vs. paper ):

Our two-layered mesh metal filters produce a more robust and visually darker cup of coffee, which contains more oils and no sediment. Paper filters produce a brighter, sweeter cup of coffee with little or no sediment or oils. The Barisieur comes with a two-layered mesh metal filter but you can also use paper filters, the choice is yours.

Milk:

Oat milk, almond milk, cow's milk...whichever you prefer will stay cold and fresh in our refrigerated milk vessel ( the milk vessel can hold up to 20ml of liquid and our small fridge will maintain the temperature at 3'C - 5'C ).

Coffee drawer and spoon:

The perfect secret compartment for your sugar, coffee, biscuits...and a spoon that holds on average 5g of coffee fine ground coffee.
